Sharing the love of God through Hospitality is a core value of Central United Church. We are continually seeking ways to offer welcome, care and relationships to those in need of support, friendship and community.
Visitation Ministry
Central has an active volunteer visitation team that travels through the different quadrants of the city visiting homes, hospitals, lodges and other care facilities. One of their desires as caregivers is to bring the warmth of community and the love of God to those who are not able to join us in worship and fellowship.
Flower Ministry
Every Sunday two bouquets of flowers are delivered to members of our congregation or our extended community. Those who are shut-ins or in nursing homes/lodges are recipients of poinsettias during Advent as well as lilies at Easter.
Communication and Care Ministry
There are several ways that Central provides or receives communication and care to its community as an act of ministry. Central keeps an active and confidential prayer line available for individuals to share their needs and prayers requests. When welcomed to Central makes it a priority to contact families and individuals during significant moments in their lives such as: birthday, anniversaries, as well as to honour times of celebration or loss.
Greeters and Ushers
There is nothing more encouraging than friendly smile and warm greeting when someone enters a new space for the first time. At Central we have an amazing team of greeters and ushers who are available during both of our weekend gatherings who share the love of God through an genuine and heartfelt welcome. They are also great resources to help assist anyone in locating resources or navigating our historic building.
