We are so excited that you are considering joining us at Central United Church during one of our two distinct Sunday worship gatherings.  We hope that through these brief descriptions of our weekly gatherings you will get a sense of who we are as a worship community

Spirited Traditional Gathering

Every Sunday morning at 10:30am we enter a time of worship in our Spirited Traditional Gathering.  This 70 minute gathering is full of traditional hymns, contemporary choruses and punctuated by one of three wonderful choirs.  Adults, young people, families and seniors all join together in this gathering and share a community worship experience.  Children (preschool-junior high) are offered the opportunity to attend exciting classes with caring teachers just prior to Pastor Michael’s message.

Our Spirited Traditional Gathering is a time to carve out your own space to meet God.  With warm hospitality you are invited to participate fully in the service or, if you so choose, to allow this time of worship to quietly minister to your own needs.

Following the Spirited Traditional Gathering there is always a time of fellowship and conversation in our lounge.  Take time to walk through our wonderful bookstore, Newt’s Books, that is open alongside our own library.  You will also have the opportunity for private or intercessory prayer in our Chapel immediately following the worship gathering.

Celebrate Life Recovery Gathering

Each Sunday evening beginning at 6:00pm we host our Celebrate Life Recovery Gathering.  This diverse group gathers in the sanctuary for a time of worship that is unlike anything else.  With music led by the amazing band – “The Cracked Pots” – you will experience what many call a “meeting with music”.  Intentionally casual and friendly, this gathering is designed to support individuals and families who are on the journey of Recovery.

This 60 minutes gathering is an opportunity to connect with others in Recovery, share in the Traditions and Steps of AA, and hear the message of Jesus’ unconditional love and reconciliation from Pastor Wayne Lewry.   You will feel completely at home grabbing a coffee, sharing a pew with both bikers and business people as we all celebrate the journey of Life Recovery.

Following the Celebrate Life Recovery Gathering is always a time of conversation in our lounge as well as an Open CA meeting (7:30-9:00pm) in Meeting Room #1.

The last Sunday of the month is especially unique as we celebrate our recovery birthdays (during the gathering) and offer a special ministry for children affected by addictions from 5:45-7:00pm (Meeting Room #1).
